Euro 5-grade diesel in JB soon
CYBERJAYA: Owners of diesel-powered cars and trucks can buy Euro 5-grade diesel in
Johor within the next three weeks.
According to Malaysian Auto-motive Institute (MAI) chief executive officer Madani
Sahari, Euro 5-grade diesel would be sold at a subsidised price of RM2.10 per litre at 15 to 20 BHPetrol stations
This is 10 sen higher per litre than Euro 2M-grade diesel.
Madani said the introduction of Euro 5-grade diesel was to help lorry operators
comply with Singapore’s new regulation for smoke opacity.
Beginning July 1, Malaysian-registered diesel-powered vehicles in Singapore need
to achieve a smoke opacity test result of 40 HSUs (Hartridge smoke unit) or lower.
Madani said the Euro 5-grade diesel sold at BHPetrol stations in Johor was also
available to private diesel-powered passenger car owners.
The Association of Malaysian Hauliers president Datuk Che Azizuddin Che Ismail
welcomed the introduction of Euro 5-grade diesel, saying that the slightly higher price was not an
